The project includes the extension and reconfiguration of an existing Victorian Gothic detached house in Richmond.

Our proposals carefully reconfigure the ground floor to improve the link to the modest garden and to improve the internal environment generally.

Stone was specified as the facing material to the new elements to subtly contrast with the light yellow brick and to provide a high quality, robust finish.

Given the modest nature of the existing garden, we added further external amenity space with a new private roof terrace linked to the main garden by a sculptural spiral staircase.

The internal finishes are simple. walls and ceilings are whitewashed, floors are generally timber within the existing house with large format tiles to the new extension which links to the large format stone slabs of the re-landscaped garden.

Historic features such as moulding, fire surrounds and encaustic tiles floors were carefully restored.
